My first camera was a Kodak Instamatic, purchased to document my 1970 bicycle journey from Anaheim to Carmel, California. In the years that followed, I moved on to a Pentax and, later, an inexpensive Nikon. I have always valued photographs as captured moments in time—fleeting combinations of light, place, and experience that will never express themselves in quite the same way again
